On Sunday, May 4, Craig Mowrey shared with the congregation that, after 26 years of faithful service on the pastoral team at Walnut Hill, he will be completing his position as Lead Pastor, Development on July 31 to follow God’s leading into a new chapter.
Over the past nine months, Craig and Amy have sensed the Lord asking them to take a bold step of faith. Through prayer, conversations with trusted mentors, and the support of close friends, they have become confident that God is doing something new in their lives. While the path ahead isn’t fully clear, Craig feels a strong sense of anticipation. Ministry will always remain close to his heart, but he’s also experiencing a growing passion for business and entrepreneurship, and is currently exploring several opportunities outside of formal ministry.
Craig shared: “I am so grateful for my Walnut Hill family. Serving here has been one of my greatest joys. I marvel at what God is doing in and through Walnut Hill and will always cheer you on. I want to assure everyone that there’s no hidden reason behind our decision to step away. I love working with Shawn, Adam, our Elder Team, and staff—and I love pastoring you. Stepping into this new chapter is something God has clearly put on our hearts, and we know we need to obey and follow Jesus.”
